Birthday

For my birthday, I would love to eat without the guilt and the talk back from ED.

I would love this to be an ED Free birthday.
I plan to have dinner and a pastry.
I also want to enjoy the time with my husband without ED's intrusiveness.

I just want to say he isn't invited to my time away!!! No room for him in the  in the small suitcase.

Ohama, NE

I was sadden and sicken to learn that two bullies put this boy's belongings in the toilet.
First they took an item that wasn't theirs to the restroom without permission-that is theft.
Then they put it in the toilet-vandalism.
The bullies claimed  that they didn't know the boy was deaf. Whether they knew or not isn't the issue, what they did was very wrong! They picked and bullied on someone to elevate their low sense of self-worth.
Alex no longer feels safe going to school because of the past bullying incidents.
It is not okay to bully anyone under any circumstance! Bullying hurts a person's self-worth and the person at the end may end up taking his or her life like we seen in that Catholic school where there the school did nothing to help the thirteen old boy and he hung himself.
I do hope this mother of the deaf boy makes a police report. These boys need to be held accountable and know this behavior is unacceptable
Also they need to ask themselves: Would we like this done if we were deaf?
Alex had everything he needed to get through the school day in his backpack and have that ruined and stolen was very heartbreaking!
It is sad that kids can not go to school without getting bullied.
If it were up to me: They would get expelled from school, get charged, do some juvenile lockup time, go to to sensitivity classes on how how to treat others!!!!!
Also these bullies should have to pay for this kid's school supplies: Tablet, books, cochlear implant and whatever was damaged.
On a good note, good to hear that a lot of students are rallying behind Alex, and set up a Go Fund me page so he get his school supplies back.
Thanks to the students that are stepping up for this boy!!!

ED -Mr. Killjoy

I have noticed that when I was in deep with the ED, I lost a lot more than weight.
1. Joy-my sense of humor left me
2. Me-my essence who I  was being swallowed by this monster
I have noticed emptiness like a vacuum. I was there but not really present in mind and body.
I felt like I was sleep walking through life.
It took Miriam to mention the one thing I was afraid to jolt me out of my fog.

Now when I get to thinking, I want be like that, I have to remember how vacant I felt. I don't want to live that way.
As Terry said, I have to be happy with me. So I have to acknowledge that critical voice and know it isn't my voice and put it back where it belongs down in the pit.
I will face the feelings that have been hurting me and will trust Miriam to help me through the pain and get to the other side.

Happy Meal trackers

I have read on Facebook trending that McDonald's was going to include activity trackers with Happy Meal purchases while supplies last. I have also read so kids can burn off their nuggets and fries.

Although, McDonald's is trying to curb obesity issue, I see another problem setting up.
Possible eating disorders.
I see that kids will see food as an enemy and try to burn it off or feel that they have to earn their meals. Childhood should be a time of innocence.
It is sad in this day in age where young girls are trying to diet to get into bathing suits and end up in eating disorder facilities; that they feel that have to track their activities while eating a simple Happy Meal.

I do understand about the health risks of childhood obesity, that they will get adult diseases like high blood pressure and type two diabetes if they don't get a handle on this.

I don't think giving a kid a fitness tracker is the right idea.
I think that nutrition and exercise should start at home.
The parents can have the kids go shopping with them and pick out things for healthy meals. Use McDonald's as a treat or special occasion.
Also exercise should be a family thing, weather it be walking in the park, going on an outing that includes walking and seeing the sites like the zoo or going to an amusement park, or anything that encourages walking. When winter comes, sign up for swimming at a pool or go open swim when it is available.
Bottom line: Everything should have a balance, meals  and exercise. There should not be more of one thing or there will be a health risk either way. Kids don't need fitness trackers " to burn off nuggets, just maintaining a healthy lifestyle and include fun in it also that always helps!!!!

observaations made

As I was watching the Olympic opening ceremony, I noticed dancers in the carnival part, dancing and having a great time. They all had different body types. They weren't thinking about their bodies on how they looked. They were enjoying the festivities. Very good to see!!!!

Feeling Good in our skin

It is hard to feel good in our skin when tv ads show things like plastic surgery, weight loss and other things that we need to do to " make ourselves more acceptable in society's eye's.
Society loves telling us what is wrong with us and never likes to tell us what is good about ourselves.

Truth of the matter:There is nothing wrong with us! I have heard this from a friend and she is right! Let's celebrate our uniqueness and our love towards each other instead of looking like someone that we can never strive to!

Let's show our inner beauty!

Cedar Point

It was an awesome time at Cedar Point! I got to go on all the rides! We also got a souvenir  picture of us on the new ride! No time for ED. I even wore my bathing suit at the hotel with no worries and ordered what I wanted off the menu.
I am hoping this year will become the year that ED is no longer a presence in my life!
that could be done with transparency with my therapist and dealing with feelings head on! It is a great possibility for sure!
